Indonesia Golden Visa Destinations

The Indonesia Golden Visa program grants residency for investors across the entire Indonesian archipelago, including Bali. There is no specific ‘Bali Golden Visa’; the investor residency scheme applies nationwide, offering 5-year or 10-year renewable visas based on financial thresholds.

Indonesia’s Golden Visa program, officially designated as an investor residency scheme, offers foreign investors the opportunity for extended stays within the country. While often colloquially referred to as the ‘Bali Golden Visa’, it is crucial to understand that this program is not exclusive to Bali. Instead, it is a national initiative, applicable across all provinces and islands of Indonesia, including Jakarta, Lombok, Sumatra, and beyond.

Understanding the Indonesia Golden Visa

The Indonesia Golden Visa is designed to attract significant foreign investment by providing long-term residency. This visa type is distinct from standard tourist or business visas, offering greater stability and fewer administrative hurdles for eligible investors. The primary benefit is a renewable visa for either 5 or 10 years, contingent on meeting specific financial and investment criteria set by the Indonesian government.

Investment Pathways and Requirements (2026–2027)

The Indonesia Golden Visa offers several investment pathways, catering to individual investors, those establishing companies, and corporate directors or commissioners. The financial requirements vary significantly depending on the chosen route and the desired visa duration.

Individual Investors (Not Establishing a Company) – E28C

This category is for individuals who wish to invest in Indonesian financial instruments without establishing a new company. The options include:

  • 5-year visa: An investment of USD 350,000 (approximately IDR 5.3 billion) in one or more of the following:
    • Indonesian government bonds
    • Shares listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX)
    • Mutual funds registered in Indonesia
    • Bank deposit, with a minimum of USD 130,000 to be maintained; the remaining balance can be allocated for property acquisition.
  • 10-year visa: An investment of USD 700,000 (approximately IDR 10.6 billion) in the same instruments as the 5-year visa. Alternatively, a qualifying residential apartment purchase is an option:
    • Purchase of a residential apartment valued at least USD 1,000,000. If this property route is chosen, no additional financial deposit is required.

Individual Investors Establishing a Company – E28B

For investors planning to establish a company in Indonesia, the requirements are higher due to the direct economic contribution through business creation.

  • 5-year visa: An investment of USD 2.5 million (approximately IDR 38 billion).
  • 10-year visa: An investment of USD 5 million (approximately IDR 76 billion).

Please note: Updated January 2026 guidelines for the Nusantara (IKN) Golden Visa offer reduced thresholds for investments specifically within the new capital city:

  • Nusantara 5-year visa: Investment of USD 5 million.
  • Nusantara 10-year visa: Investment of USD 10 million.

Corporate Directors/Commissioners (Establishing Company) – E28D

This category targets key personnel in companies established under the Golden Visa program, offering a path to residency for those in leadership roles.

Why Invest in Indonesia?

Indonesia offers a compelling environment for foreign investment, extending beyond its popular tourist destinations. The country’s large domestic market, growing economy, and strategic geographical position make it an attractive proposition. The Golden Visa streamlines the residency process, allowing investors to focus on their ventures with the assurance of long-term stability.

National Reach, Local Benefits

While Bali often features in discussions about Indonesian residency, the Golden Visa’s national scope means investors can choose to reside and operate anywhere in Indonesia. This includes the dynamic urban centres of Jakarta, the industrial hubs of Java, the developing resource-rich regions of Kalimantan and Sumatra, or indeed, the tranquil landscapes of Bali and Lombok. Each region offers distinct economic opportunities and lifestyle benefits, allowing investors to align their residency with their specific business interests or personal preferences.

The Indonesia Golden Visa facilitates long-term engagement with one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic economies, providing a structured pathway for significant foreign capital contributions.
